Surat Night Marathon 2016

Last night Surat – The diamond city tuned into a diamond itself. Yes, we all witness the biggest marathon of Asia last night. City Tadka is really spellbound for this phenomenal event. More than 50,000 participants ran for a cause with full enthusiasm and energy. There was a festive wave among all of us. Zealous wind had really changed the atmosphere. Known for its festive and celebration spirit, at least 7-10 lakh SurtiLalas were out on roads to cheer the National and International stars participating in the Marathon

BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate and Gujarat’s CM Mr. Narendra Modi and the legendary athlete The Flying Sikh – Mr. Milkha Singh today flagged off ‘Night Marathon’ in Surat city this evening. “Surat gets the credit for pioneering the concept of night marathon in Gujarat,” Mr. Modi said. He even appreciated the social welfare spirit of Surat. The inspiring Mr. Milkha Singh joined us while flagging off the Surat Night Marathon. He said such events were needed for cultivating sense of togetherness in the modern society. The whole event was hosted by Shweta Tiwari. Great performances were given by the queen of music industry Shreya Ghoshal. Not only at the venue but the event was celebrated throughout the path. Great Spirit of sportsmanship was shown by all.

City Tadka team found in all 25 international marathoners and 55 Indian runners are participating in the run that has 2200 entries in half marathon and 400 in full marathon section. The race started at 9.30 PM and festivities were continued till 4.00 AM of Monday in city. The event is organized by Surat Marathon Company to raise funds of CCTV network and to help Cancer patients. Total Prize money that was given amounts to Rs 22.68 Lakh. Our team heartly congratulates the winners and all the participants and spectators for making it a grand success.
