Samanvaya on International Dance Day
India is definitely a mix of rich culture and tradition. We are proud of it. When it comes to Surat, we Suratis are the ones who appreciate the art and culture. What could be better than covering a dance fest on International Dance Day?
Samanvaya- Indian Classical Dance Fest 2016 was organized by 17 classical dance gurus of Surat and performed by 120 dancers, was an initiative to celebrate World Dance Day on 29th April, 2016. It is a proud moment for City Tadka for covering this honorable event that consists of art and culture.
Reshma Nagar, owner of Synchrony Kathak Dance Academy, took up this splendid initiative of bringing together different dance schools of Surat city for the first time. Jeevan Bharti’s RangBhavan was filled with enchanting classical dance performances by renowned Classical Dance Institutes of Surat.
The most colorful and brilliant classical dance forms of India with their roots in the ling and rich cultural traditions across the country, offer a feast for the eyes. Dance forms like Kathak, Bharatnatyam & Odissi were presented by well-known artists as an initiative of its first kind in the history of Surat city.
Many dignitaries witnessed this beautiful program including the Collector of Surat & Vice Chancellor of VNSGU.
The opening performance, Pushpanjali, was choreographed by Reshma Nagar, Jigna Seth & Debasrita Mohanty. It was a blend of the three dance styles – Kathak, Bharatnatyam and Odissi. Total 17 performances were given by the different dance institutes and the crowd was bewitched by each and every performance. Rang Bhavan Auditorium at Jeevan Bharti School was a full house when this one of a kind program took place.
Even though the program lasted for roughly 3 hours, these mesmerizing performances will be remembered for a long time. Watching these performances reveal the age-old trends and nuances that are firmly established in dance in various regions of India.
