Bhicaji Davierwalla has from the very beginning been in the environment of the hotel and hospitality industry as he was born and brought up in Panchgani where the family had a heritage resort which was established in 1925 by the name of “il-palazzo hotel”.
His father in the meanwhile moved on to Surat where he started “tex-palazzo hotel” the first hotel in Asia with a revolving restaurant. Bhicaji grew up with his paternal aunt and uncle in Panchgani.he attributes his core life qualities of generosity, compassion, and honesty to his uncle Hoshang Ddaviewrwalla. After graduating from h.a.f.t (hotel and food technology) from the Sophia college in Mumbai in April 1985, Bhicaji immediately came to Surat to join his father in business. Consequently the hotel industry has always been part of his life .he learnt a lot under the guidance of his father but unfortunately lost his father within less than a year of joining business.
The demise of his father came as a rude shock to the family and suddenly the burden of running the business came on his shoulder. Always the kind of rising to any situation, Bhicaji embraced the responsibilities and has never looked back since.things were smooth for a while but when the difficulties began he plunged right into them knowing that giving up is not an option. There was a long period of tough and testing times but Bhicaji relentlessly fought every battle and brought the business to the peak of success.the hotel carried on to earn a name amongst the better hotels of Surat. The family ventured into the business of cakes and pastries in the year 1991 under the brand name of “cream n crust”.they started out with their flagship store at parle point. however, soon enough, in January 1992 his brother shifted to Panchgani to run the hotel there.
Bhicaji took the business of “cream n crust” further in leaps and bounds .it is now a premium chain of pastry shops in Surat.he always kept the teachings of his uncle in mind in every situation along with the guts and determination which he inherited from his father. High quality and freshness of materials used in production were always the basis of business ethics.in his eyes competition is always healthy and should be treated as a source of inspiration for further challenges. He believes that one must have implicit faith in God, also maintaining that good health is a must. As a businessman his advice to any budding entrepreneur is that everybody’s input and opinion is valuable but one must ultimately listen to one’s heart before taking any decision.also he feels that it is every businessman’s duty to give back something to society. To sum it up in all his goal now is to take “cream n crust” national!!!!
